As Seen on SpreadFirefox.com

I am always surpised that more emphasis hasn't been placed about how much easier it is to use Firefox for job search than the "other" browser.

On my site where users collect and organize the jobs they apply for, create and send custom cover and cold call letters and report on their job search activities I recommend that they all use Firefox.

I suggest they bookmarks their favorite searches, open up individual jobs in separate tabs, and use the AutoCopy Extension to make it easier to bring the job information into my pages.

I think showing how much easier it is to use Firefox than the other alternatives for specific endeavors like Job Search is going to be very important to continue the meteoric rate of growth for Firefox.

Before I lay me down to sleep

I had someone email me today to ask what the purpose of JobSearchLog was:

Her blog entry was recounting her hopes that she would get a job at either Costco or Home Depot.

I told her I didn't think the program was right for her.

I would love to write a program that would provide an easy way to find a job, but there isn't an easy way to find a job.

Memorial Day

Filed under: Introduction, Job Search, Organization — Michael Brennan-White @ 3:07 pm

Memorial Day and the never ending number of bad news stories out of Iraq made me think I should be offering the Job Search Log features to the military community.  There is a program named the Transition Assistance Program that seems to fit the bill once I find the locations of each program and the contact information since I am restricted to email due to lack of funds.

My lovely wife spent several hours transcribing the address info for each state's Veteran Affairs Commission into JobSearchLog.  Now to write the letter and ship them out.  I should be able to do that tomorrow night.

Things are Picking up

Lots of Activity over the last few weeks. Letters were sent to almost all of the U.S. Unemployment offices introducing JobSearchLog. So far, only Texas has linked to our pages but we have been receiving a steady stream of referral links from their site. I also started the letters to the Job Finding Clubs in Canada.

Over the last week, we have been getting approximately 10-15 new registrants a day. I am also sending out a reminder/welcome message each night to new members. Hopefully I will get more responses soon from the other states and organizations I sent the emails to.
